Nothing here deletes your source or transferred files

Sentinel Sweep's privacy controls remove app state. They do not delete files from the source, quarantine, or destination locations you chose. File deletion or replacement can occur only through the transfer operations you select, such as Move or Overwrite.

Choose and remove file access

On Setup, you choose each scan source, quarantine folder, and destination. Sentinel Sweep uses macOS permissions and security-scoped bookmarks to reopen approved items.

  • Remove an individual source or source group from the Scan Queue when you no longer want it in the active setup.
  • Use the clear-source control to empty the scan-source queue and release its active source bookmarks.
  • Choose a different quarantine or destination folder to replace the previous selection.
  • Use Restore Factory Defaults if you want to remove all saved Sentinel Sweep bookmark state at once.

A removable drive can require reselection after it is renamed, reformatted, disconnected, or mounted differently.

Clear current scan results

On Setup, choose Clear Results to remove the current scan's result list and its saved review-session checkpoint. This also clears the current selection and learning work that has not yet finished.

Clear Results does not clear learned memory, transfer history, every transfer-queue item, a separately saved interrupted-transfer checkpoint, application preferences, or all saved location access. Use the controls below for those records.

Clear learned memory

Choose Clear Learned Memory… from the Sweep menu, or open Settings › Learning and choose Clear Memory….

This permanently removes the Adult and Safe examples Sentinel Sweep has learned, including the local signals and fingerprints used to recognize those decisions. It does not delete files, current scan results, transfer history, queues, or current selections. Future scans stop using the deleted remembered decisions.

Clear transfer history and undo logs

Choose Clear Transfer History… from the Sweep menu and confirm Clear History.

This removes saved transfer logs and the latest transfer summary. It does not change files that were copied or moved, current scan results, queues, or learned decisions. A past move can no longer be undone from Sentinel Sweep if the information required for that undo existed only in a deleted log.

Resume or discard interrupted work

Interrupted transfer

When the Transfers screen shows an Interrupted Transfer banner, choose Resume to continue the remaining work or Discard to delete that interrupted-transfer checkpoint. Discard does not reverse files that already finished copying or moving.

Review-session checkpoint

Sentinel Sweep saves a separate review-session checkpoint so scan and review state can survive a relaunch. Clearing results removes the active review state and that review checkpoint. Factory reset removes all checkpoints.

Restore Factory Defaults

Open Settings › Reset, choose Restore Factory Defaults…, then confirm Reset and Quit.

Sentinel Sweep records a one-time reset request and quits. The deletion finishes before the app builds its state on the next launch. Reopen Sentinel Sweep to complete the reset.

The factory reset removes:

  • learned Adult and Safe decisions;
  • saved scan and review results;
  • queues and review or transfer checkpoints;
  • transfer history, undo logs, and local recovery backups;
  • saved settings and window or table preferences;
  • saved security-scoped bookmarks; and
  • the app's local protection keys from Keychain when macOS permits.

It does not delete or change source files or files already copied or moved. It also does not cancel, refund, or erase an App Store purchase record held by Apple.

Complete the relaunch before uninstalling

Deleting the app in Finder does not guarantee that macOS removes every item in Application Support, preferences, or Keychain. If you want Sentinel Sweep to perform its in-app full reset, confirm the reset and then reopen the app once before uninstalling it.

Apple purchases and Restore Purchases

Transfer Access is a one-time App Store purchase with no subscription. Apple associates the purchase with the Apple Account used in the App Store. Sentinel Sweep does not create a separate customer account or receive full payment-card or bank-account details.

Scanning, review, and manual queue planning are free. Transfer Access is required to use Quick Copy or Quick Move, open the final Review Transfer screen, or start a new Copy or Move. Buying or restoring access never starts the attempted action automatically; choose it again after access is confirmed.

Choosing Restore Purchases will ask Apple to synchronize eligible purchase status. The request does not include scanned media, filenames, paths, classifications, bookmarks, queues, or transfer logs.

  • A factory reset or reinstall does not request a refund and does not erase Apple's purchase record.
  • After a reset or reinstall, StoreKit may need to re-establish an eligible purchase before new transfers are unlocked.
  • Apple handles refund requests. A refunded or revoked purchase can return Sentinel Sweep to its free feature set.
  • Pause, cancel, interrupted-transfer recovery, and eligible Undo remain available for file safety after a transfer has begun.

Apple diagnostics

Apple controls diagnostic sharing for macOS and the Mac App Store. If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple or app developers, Apple may provide crash or performance diagnostics. You can review analytics and diagnostics choices in System Settings. Exact labels can vary by macOS version.

Sentinel Sweep does not intentionally attach scanned file contents, paths, or results to diagnostics. System-generated reports are prepared by Apple and can contain technical context chosen by macOS.

Delete information sent by email

The app does not have a Sentinel Sweep account to delete. An App Store purchase is associated separately with your Apple Account and is managed by Apple. If you sent personal information to SentinelSweepSupport@gmail.com, you can email the same address and ask for deletion of the support message.

Google may retain information under Gmail's own policies, and some records may need to be kept for security or legal reasons. Do not send scanned media, passwords, passkeys, signing keys, recovery codes, or unredacted logs.
